SOP for Winterizing/Commissioning the DYC Dockhouse and Dock

DOCKHOUSE

This section is for the Dockhouse, under purview of the Vice Commodore

Winterizing:

  1. In heads:
    1. Make sure all windows are closed
    2. Clean and check all exhaust fans, inside and out.
    3. Pour 5 gal of water down each of the mens and womens and locker room floor drains.
  2. Pump Out Room Sink:
    1. In locker room, turn off outside sink (valve by ice machine).
    2. Open sink spigot (remove any hose).
    3. Remove drain knob on shutoff valve and allow sink to drain.
    4. Reinstall knob.
    5. Close door louvers.
  3. Follow HVAC SOP to enable heating.
  4. Every few days, verify that heat/building is OK. Spare portable heater stored on 2nd deck. An emergency installed wall heater in Locker Room is available if needed.
  5. WD40 all inside padlocks, white lithium all cipher locks.
  6. Any other identified work.

Spring Commissioning:

  1. Turn on Pump Out sink valve, located to right of ice machine, check for leaks.
  2. Pour 5 gal of water down locker room floor drain, and head drains.
  3. In Pump Out room, open door louvers.
  4. Follow HVAC SOP to enable air conditioning.
  5. Clean and sanitize ice machine - now done by professional.
  6. WD40 all inside padlocks, white lithium all cipher locks.
  7. Any other identified work.

DOCK

This section is for dock stuff under purview of the Dockmaster and Assistant

Winterizing- before doing steps below, Have base turn off dock water and remove backflow preventer.

  1. Drain dock plumbing as follows:
    1. Remove white drain plug on seawall near ramp(low tide).
    2. Close all hose bibbs, removing any hoses.
    3. Remove the backflow preventer, from most distant hose bibb.
    4. Hook up air to most distant hose bibb, and allow it to blow out line.
    5. Remove air and open all bibbs.
    6. Reinstall the backflow preventer at most distant hose bibb.
    7. Reinstall drain plug, using new teflon tape.
  2. Install deicers to be ready for use. See deicer SOP.
  3. Replace any bad dock boards.
  4. Clean parking lot/beach area.
  5. WD40 all outside padlocks, white lithium all cipher lock.
  6. Air all DYC tires, including the cart in the dockhouse, and the sewage pump cart, being careful to inflate small tires to 25, and large to 50.
  7. Remove plastic floating dock, to winter use section see Floating Dock SOP.
  8. Replace stones as needed.
  9. Remove and clean 'NO WAKE' buoys.
  10. Remove bimini from Sea Hunt, store in locker room.
  11. Any other identified work.

Spring commissioning

  1. Have Public Works turn on water at dock and reinstall backflow preventer.
  2. Check all dock plumbing for leaks, repair as necessary.
  3. Remove, clean, and store deicers in trailer, see deicer SOP.
  4. Install floating dock, see Floating Dock SOP
  5. Air all DYC tires, including the cart in the dockhouse, and the sewage pump cart, being careful to inflate small tires to 25 and large ones to 50.
  6. Replace any bad dock boards.
  7. Clean parking lot/beach area.
  8. Replace stones as needed.
  9. Install 'NO WAKE' buoys.
  10. Install bimini on Sea Hunt.
  11. Using the DYC GFI tester, and a DYC pigtail, test each dock outlet for power and test that the power goes off when the test button is pushed. Each 20 amp GFI can be reset after testing. Each 30 amp breaker will need to be reset at the breaker panel on the dock after testing is complete. Make note of any problems by slip number.
  12. Any other identified work.

This procedure supersedes all previous DYC instructions concerning operation of the this portion of the DYC facilities.
