DYC Racing Program Year End Awards
THE GEORGE FORSTER MEMORIAL TROPHY
The George Forster Memorial Trophy was presented for the
first time, for the 1989 Sailing season. It was purchased by
donations from DYC members and profits from the sale of
teeshirts. It is named in memory of George ('Butch') Foster
who died by his own hand in the Fall of 1988. 'Butch' is
remembered by DYC members, not for his tragic life, but for
the enjoyment he had when sailing.
The Trophy is perpetual and is to be awarded to the boat
that, in the opinion of the Race Committee, has had the best
performance in Season High Points. The Race Committee can thus
ensure that the trophy is not won by the same boat every year
but is spread between 'A', 'B', and the Daysailer fleets.
MOST IMPROVED (PHRF)
The Trophy is awarded to the boat that, in the opinion of
the Race Committee, has shown the most improvement in the PHRF
Racing Program..

the Race Committee, has shown the most improvement in the
Portsmouth Racing Program..
DON QUIXOTE
The Trophy is awarded to the boat that, in the opinion of
the Race Committee, has shown the most enthusiasm and success
in the face of major problems or adversity.
