About the Dahlgren Yacht Club
The Dahlgren Yacht Club is a Morale, Welfare, and Recreation (MWR), Non-Appropriated Fund Instrumentality (NAFI) organization and has four categories of membership:
  1. Regular Membership (REG),
  2. Associate Membership (ASC),
  3. Racing Associate Membership (RAM), and
  4. Unaffiliated Associate Membership (UNA).

Regular Members, Associate Members, and Unaffiliated Associate Members are entitled to the use of all DYC facilities (wet slips, dry slips, ramp, and lockers). For safety reasons, wet and dry slip rental is limited to members who live aboard NSWCDD Dahlgren, work aboard NSWCDD Dahlgren and its tenant activities, or live within a 30 mile distance or 30 minute commute of NSWCDD Dahlgren. This restriction is necessary to assure that personnel who keep boats at the DYC facility can respond to emergency weather situations in a reasonable amount of time. Members of all categories can participate in the social events of DYC and in the sail boat races. Non-member participants in scheduled regattas or other events shall be extended temporary privileges appropriate to the nature of the event and consistent with normal standards of hospitality.

Regular membership is open to all active duty military personnel, and to Federal Civilian Employees who are assigned to NSWCDD, Dahlgren, VA, or its tenant commands and activities. Employees of other organizations onboard NSWCDD, such as the NSWC Federal Credit Union, shall be eligible for Regular Membership. Regular Members who are transferred from NSWCDD, Dahlgren, VA to other activities or locations will be eligible for Regular Membership as long as they are Active Duty Military or Federal Civilian Employees and their DYC Membership is continuous (renewed annually).

Associate membership is open to retired personnel who were regular members at the time of their retirement.

Unaffiliated Associate membership is open to retired military, on a case by case basis, subject to approval by a majority vote of the BOG. The number of this category of membership shall be limited to 10% of the number of regular members for whom applications have been accepted as of 1 April.

Racing associate membership is open to anyone not encompassed by the above categories.

Membership may not be denied to any person by virtue of race, color, sex, or creed.
